Press report: ISWK reminisce of their founders

The 26th Founders’ Day of Indian School Al Wadi Al Kabir  was celebrated with great fervor  on the premises of their Primary wing!

Two students from the Primary wing welcomed the Chief Guest for the soirée,  H.E.  Indramani Pandey, the Indian Ambassador to the Sultanate, with a bouquet of flowers. Both the National Anthems of Oman and India foretold another feat of grandeur in the offing.

The Hindustani choir of the school got going with their number, Sapnon ke liye jee lo, Maqsad ke liye jee lo (Live for thy dreams and desires).

Mr. Harshendu Shah, Honorary President of the School Managing Committee, mentioned the time-honoured contribution of the school, which has already come a long way for about three-quarter of a century, in both scholastic as well as co-scholastic fields

The kindergarten termed their Terpsichore as Circle of Life. It refreshed our memory to go more and more sustainably. Our cohabitants on this living planet are the must-have to complete the circle of life and it is indeed our responsibility to preserve them and to live together with them.

The Annual Report highlighting the school’s performance in the academic year 2015 – 2016 was presented by Principal D N Rao with the help of a power-point projection.

Then came the felicitation of staff on having their service completed for one or even two decades  and the ultimate winner of the ‘ Best Teacher Award for Teaching Excellence’ instituted by the Board of Directors of Indian Schools in Oman,  Sashikala Prabhat, Vice Principal of the primary wing (morning shift).

This was followed by the dance number from the students of class two, Symphony in Nature, which beautifully portrayed the synchronization of several elements of nature like air, water and earth.

Presentation of awards went on in admiration of those 49 students who got hold of a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 10 out of 10 in the 10thstandard examination and to another couple of students for achieving the top percentile (0.1%) across India in All India Senior Secondary Certificate Examination evaluated by Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi. In addition to these toppers the special achievers also bagged their certificates and other prizes conferred by His Excellency the Ambassador of India. He also handed over the Cock House trophy to the victorious Vivekananda House. H.E.Pandey proudly pointed out in his speech, “I am particularly impressed by the achievements of Indian School Wadi Kabir. As said by the honourable President of India, education should inculcate critical thinking capabilities in students and should also ignite their minds and make the learning process intellectually stimulating.” 

Classes 3 to 5 gave us the Soulful Tranquillity to pass on the message of our three grand -love, peace and harmony. Fifty-six students of classes 4 and put on view their dance chef-d'oeuvre Yours Gracefully for Peace wherein freedom is the other name of religion, peace is God and love is our worship. They represented five versatile nations – Africa, China, Philippines, Egypt and indeed India. It was followed by the performance from the matinee idols of ISWK. The senior section came with their dazzling dance number Global Peace and Harmony. It reiterated the theme of the evening. It reaffirmed that the inner peace can gradually spread from an individual domain to the global arena.

Audience never knew such a magnanimous moment was awaiting them when the curtain was rung up for the grand finale. Hundreds of students joined the seventh heaven of musical ecstasy. The standing ovation all the way through evidenced the talents of these teens. Peace was time and again proven to be the sole source of all joie de vivre.

Sheikh Kanaksi Khimji, Mrs. and Mr. Anil Khimji, Mrs. and Mr. Kiran Asher, members of the Indian Merchant Community, members of the School Managing Committee of ISWK and other dignitaries graced the occasion.
