ISWK
Exhibition Advocates Eco-Friendliness
Indian
School Al Wadi Al Kabir (ISWK) recently held its
biennial exhibition by the departments of Social
Science, Languages and Arts on the
theme—'Protect Our Precious Planet'. Mr. Redha
Bin Said Bin Mohammed, Director of International
Schools from the Ministry of Education,
inaugurated the exhibition. Mr. Harshendu Shah,
Hon. President of our school, Mr. Lobo, Academic
Director, Principal P.N. Ashok, members of the
School Management Committee along with other
dignitaries, staff members and students were
present on the occasion.
The exhibition began with a thought-provoking
skit and a power-point presentation depicting
the inter-dependence of Man and Nature. It
featured talk shows, live demonstrations and
audio-visual presentations on the theme of
preservation of environment, in addition to a
rich display of models and charts.
Beginning with the portrayal of Nature in her
pristine glory, the exhibition moved on to
showcase Man's deeds that disrupt this balance
and harmony in his so called passion for
progress. The exhibition focused on the
much-needed corrective measures to be adopted by
Man in his resolve to preserve and restore
Nature for his own sake. The dignitaries,
parents and the other visitors, which also
included Omani students, were much impressed by
students' creativity. It also served as an
eye-opener for many who felt compelled to do
some soul searching when it came to the question
of protecting of our planet earth.
The exhibition also displayed glass painting,
fabric painting, stitching and embroidery,
stencil-cutting, drawing and other craftwork.
Valuable contribution was also made by the
departments of Hind, French, Arabic and Physical
Education toward the success of the exhibition.
The Food Court offered mouth-watering delicacies
prepared by the students. The proceeds of the
salewould go towards donation to a charitable
cause. Apart from that there was a sale of
saplings as part of a drive to make the earth
greener.
The questions posed at the exhibition—"If not
Here, then Where? If not Now. Then When? If not
You then Who?!' would impel every sensitive
person to think and care for 'Mother Nature'.
Can we ever dare to ignore such pertinent
questions? It becomes all the more interesting
when we realize if at all we have enough time to
ponder and act. |
