The School considers the
Kindergarten an essential first step in the ladder of
educational experience.
The aim is to foster the
natural development of 3-5 year olds through an
organized, systematic, child-centered programme of
learning, not a syllabus-oriented curriculum.
The focus is on the
holistic formation of the child, to provide stimulating
activities for intellectual, linguistic, social,
emotional, aesthetic and physical growth; to educate the
individual not through rote learning but through active
exploration and experience of his/her environment and
through learning activities; to lay the foundation for
the basic skills of listening, speaking, reading,
writing English, and of numeracy, thus preparing them
for the primary grades.
The children being at the
early developmental level, their finger and eye muscles
need strengthening and co-ordination. Formal writing is
therefore, introduced when they are ready for it. Before
they write, they will have experience with paint,
brushes, crayons, and other pre-writing activities.

The School has English as
the first language and Hindi as the compulsory second
language. Arabic, French or Malyalam is taught as a
compulsory additional language for Classes VI - VIII,
fulfilling the requirement of a compulsory third
language by the Central Board of Secondary
Education.
Besides the languages,
Mathematics, Science, Environmental Studies, Social
Studies, Physical and Health Education, Computer
Studies, Art and Craft, Hindustani Music, and Work
Experience are taught.
Developmental activities
like games, sports, debates, elocution, quizzing,
dramatics, Scouting & Guiding, value-based general
assemblies, talent competitions, excursions,
inter-school tournaments, counselling, and career
guidance are given due importance.
The Scouting and Guiding
programme is an integral part of the co-curricular
activities. It helps in the development of good
character traits, training in leadership, learning of
various life-saving skills and camping in the outdoors.
This enables the child to become independent and
self-reliant.
Clubs involving yoga,
dramatics, mathematics and science, knitting, cooking,
chess etc., function on Thursdays. Every student is
expected to join a club and his/her participation is
evaluated periodically.
In the teaching-learning
process, the School lays emphasis less on learning by
rote and more on understanding, self expression, self
learning and acquisition of learning skills. There are
no formal examinations for Classes I, II and III. They
are assessed on their day-to-day work and through
informal class tests conducted by the teachers. Students
of Classes IV - VIII have formal tests. The emphasis,
however, is less on rote-learning and more on evaluating
the achievement of teaching objectives and development
of skills.
The school prepares pupils
as per the CBSE guidelines to take on the school-based
assessments at the secondary level in scholastic and
co-scholastic areas. The school-based assessments
conducted by the school in Classes IX & X will be
validated by the CBSE at the end of academic year of
class X.
